BAD JUDGEMENT

Sometimes you have no idea why you get emotional about things.

A fairly average news story
A 47 year old Scottish woman enters a talent competition
Not her local town---a national competition against all comers
She is not pretty, she is not handsome, you could not say that she had style
She is a church volunteer, a virgin, never been kissed----you see her and don't wonder why
She has never sung in front of an audience
You, along with everyone else cringe
How the hell did this woman get there on national television
The Judges take the piss out of this unattractive lump but she is there to perform.

OK Susan, get on with it

I have watched this 5 times and been brought to tears every time

Bravo Susan
May I never judge another book by its cover

That was just beautiful! What a wonderful, lovely lady. And what a voice.

Clyde, it just goes to prove that you should never judge anyone on their looks... only their merit.

If more people spent time encouraging instead of criticising, imagine what a great world it would be.

Great post.. be proud.

After someone told me about this lady yesterday, I must have watched it on youtube about 20 times. I still get tears in my eyes every single time.

Glad you wrote about it, Clyde.

BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO...this lady is fantastic! I know she will be a STAR with that wonderful voice of hers.

But let me tell you...I didn't see anything wrong with her...why would they expect a bad performance? She's a lovely lady with a fab personality.

Oh and please tell Simon to please finish buiding his home in Beverly hills...It's down the street from me and um...well it's really it's been like 3-4 years now.

Ciao honey. Thanks for the link.

It is almost a sin that such a talent was hidden for so many years.
I wish this lovely lady all of the luck and I hope success

Jimmy

I have always tried not to judge anyone by anything I see or hear but only by what a person proves to me.
I wish I could vote for this wonderful woman

Fanny

I am still watching it---she is wonderful

Bunny

And a fellow country woman---vote for her---be proud of her

Miss Jones

Exactly---we judge people by age, by looks, by background
How wonderful she was----I hope she gets her wish.
Geez, if Simon lived in the same country as me, I would think about leaving

Scarlet

The unexpected ----and I still get misty watching it

I know, the youtube clip is amazing. I cried! What isn't clear is why no one told her she had an amazing voice before and signed her up for a record deal etc. I wish her all the best.

Incredible voice, great personality!

I LOVE to see the underdog come out on top!
But as Spikey says, I don't see anything wrong with her looks.'

Clyde, my Mam (84) has a similar style of singing. All it takes is two Jameson's to get her started. She gets VERY upset if not asked to sing at parties. I wonder where I get it from!

Clyde, I went on youtube to watch this yesterday.

I was so moved by her. What a great personality, and her singing gave me goose bumps.

I bet she is singing on stage professionally right away!

Cheeky Kisses!

Ok, I have to admit to being no oil painting myself, but the the woman had bushy eyebrows---or was that one---and definitely had the highland bush pig hair style
But who cares----she was and is bloody wonderful

Stew

My mother was a Scot---but would you believe a non drinking Scot---but loved to sing at Kirk--
Hey, dont mind a Jameson myself---or an Irish Mist or two
Now where is that bottle
